Privacy policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Digital Forensics Exchange ("DFX", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through digitalforensicsexchange.com, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

What we collect

When you sign up for updates, we collect:

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.

We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't track you across other websites.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

We collect only what we need for these purposes and won't use your information for anything else without asking you first, unless the law requires or permits it.

Consent and unsubscribing

We send you email only if you've given us your express consent by ticking the box on our sign-up form. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any of our emails or by emailing info@digitalforensicsexchange.com. We'll process your request within 10 business days.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website and our mailing list, such as our website host and our email service. They process your information only on our behalf and under agreements that require them to protect it.

We do not share sign-up information with sponsors. If you later register for the conference, we'll share your contact details with sponsors only if you separately choose to opt in at that time.

We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Where your information is stored

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is outside Canada, your information is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.

This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google when you visit. Our hosting provider may also keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.

How long we keep it

We keep your sign-up information while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you and delete your details within a reasonable time. We keep a minimal record that you unsubscribed so we don't contact you again, and a record of your consent for as long as CASL requires.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards for the sensitivity of the information. These include encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access limited to the people who need it, and service providers with appropriate security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take care to protect your information and will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it's inaccurate, or to have it deleted. Email info@digitalforensicsexchange.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
